Overview

Ernest J. Essad is an accomplished attorney with a diverse civil litigation and corporate law practice that spans over 35 years. In his litigation practice, he focuses on cases involving municipal and real estate concerns, as well as handles a wide range of commercial transactions.

Ernie represented a major bond insurer in the Detroit Chapter 9 bankruptcy. He is the Township Attorney for Northville Township and has represented Plymouth, Canton and West Bloomfield Townships with respect to zoning and planning matters, as well as litigation dealing with liability, creation of utility authorities, permits, condemnation and public sector finance. Additionally, he has represented a number of private clients and financial institutions regarding transactional work, loan enforcement, workouts, restructuring debt and forbearance agreements.

Ernie’s legal counsel is informed by his prior experience with Comerica Bank and Ticor Title Insurance Company, where he worked in the Bank’s trust department and as national title counsel before entering the private practice of law.
