Birmingham Real Estate Attorney Succeeds in Case to Eliminate Local Historic District

BIRMINGHAM, Michigan, September 7, 2010 — WWRP, P.C. real estate attorney, John D. Gaber, recently made a compelling case to convince the Rochester Hills City Council to eliminate a historic district within the city. Despite strong opposition from the adjacent neighborhoods and the local-historic community, Mr. Gaber successfully challenged the historical significance of the house and its architectural value — the primary reasons the house was designated.

In 1978, the City of Rochester Hills designated the farmhouse, dating back to 1900, as a noncontiguous-historic district. This is believed to be one of only a few occasions since the enactment of the Local Historic Districts Act in 1970 in which a historic district was eliminated.
